ABOUT N7.05 BILLION BENEFITS PAID TO EX-NICON INSURANCE AND EX-DELTA STEEL COMPANY WORKERS

The Pension Traditional Arrangement Directorate (PTAD) owes pensioners of NITEL, NICON, Delta Steel Company, and others an accumulated amount of pension benefits. Over the weekend, The Chief Executive Officer of PTAD, Dr. Chioma Ejimeke, spoke at a media briefing in Abuja. She said that the Federal Government had began clearing the outstanding pension liabilities for NICON Insurance ex-workers, and the co-workers of Delta Steel Company. It was 56 months due for NICON Insurance, and 49 months due for Delta Steel Company.

The owed benefits had amounted to about N7.05 billion for ex-workers of NICON Insurance and Delta Steel Company, but is now being cleared. Dr. Chioma acknowledged the support received from the Federal Ministry of Finance, Budget and National Planning, The House of Representatives, and President Muhammadu Buhari’s Administration. She further encouraged NITEL and other organizations that have outstanding pension benefits, that PTAD is working and doing everything to ensure that all outstanding pension benefits were cleared and new strategies implored, all in a bid to satisfy pensioners.
