The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has invited Nigerians to join him in a National Prayer and Fasting for the nation. The Cleric urged them to work and pray for peace to rule in the nation. He said this at the special prayer session and thansgiving ceremony for all state governors and their appointees which held at the RCCG headquarters in Ebute-Metta, Lagos.
Adeboye acknowledged that the country is in her critical times; then he asserted that God will take care of the country’s needs beyond the scope of what authorities and soldiers can handle. He bemoaned the state of affairs in the nation but gave the people hope that God will bring about the improvement. He said: “Kidnappers can now enter the palace to kidnap the king; although in the past they wouldn’t permit the king’s dress to touch you unless you were one of the special individuals. Do not be misled; we are in a war situation. The omnipotent God will perform for you, what kings and warriors are unable to. God will heal the land and intervene in various issues affecting the country negatively.
“And I want to urge the people to prepare to join me very soon for fasting and prayer for the country. Pray for the rulers; we have spent so much time criticising them. You should pray for them. I am praying for them, and I pray you will join me to pray.”
The programme themed: ‘‘Perfect peace in the land”, was attended by the Lagos State governor, his wife, Dr Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, the representatives of Governors Gboyega Oyetola (Osun State) and Dapo Abiodun (Ogun State) and other dignitaries. Sanwo-Olu commended Adeboye in his address for encouraging people to pray for their leaders and do their part to improve the nation.
