Earlier today, there was a major fire outbreak in the popular WAEC office building, located in the Yaba axis of Lagos state. It is rumoured that the fire started as a result of some students’ results that were seized by the exam body.
While it is suspected that many were trapped in the building as fire engulfed it, the management has released a report to alley fears that there were no casualties and no document was lost. The release however, said nothing about the cause.
The statement reads: The Management of the West African Examinations Council (WAEC), wishes to inform the general public that there was an early morning fire incident at the WAEC National Office, Yaba, Lagos. It was swiftly contained by a combined team of firefighters. Thankfully, no life was lost, and all important documents and records are intact.
The statement was signed by Moyosola Adesina, Head, Public Affairs Department for Head of National Office, on Wednesday, October 26, 2022.
