To further strengthen the four-year long restoration of connection between Chad and Israel, after a protracted break; the Chad President, Idriss Mahamat Deby, carried out the opening of Chad’s first Embassy in Israel.
The opening of the embassy in Ramat Gan, close to Tel Aviv, was hailed as a momentous occasion by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office. In 2020, Netanyahu claimed that he had spoken with a Chadian team about “the potential of opening an embassy in Jerusalem.”
That would have been a victory for the right-winger who, ever since President Donald Trump relocated the US embassy in 2018, has been pressuring foreign governments to establish their embassies in the city.
