Mozambique team, who are participating in their second TotalEnergies African Nations Championship, became the first nation to land in Algiers, the capital of Algeria ahead of the TotalEnergies African Nations Championship Algeria 2022. Led by former international player Chiquinho Conde and now head coach, the Mozambique delegation are now in Algiers in preparation of the event that will kick-off on 13 January to 04 February 2023.
The Mambas, as they are called were welcomed on arrival at Algiers’ Houari-Boumediene International Airport by Local Organising Committee (LOC) President, Rachid Oukali, LOC Vice-President, Yacine Benhamza, and Federal Bureau member Hakim Medathe.
Drawn in Group A, Mozambique will kick off their second participation at the Baraki Stadium against Ethiopia before facing hosts Algeria and former winners Libya.
For the first time in history, the final tournament will feature eighteen (18) countries from all six (6) CAF zones. 16 other nations are expected in the coming days, in the four host cities of the tournament: Algiers, Oran, Constantine and Annaba.
