All-time top scorer of the Ivory Coast national team and football icon Didier Drogba has applauded Victor Osimhen for his ‘unselfishness’ after a clip emerged of an incident during Napoli’s clash against Ajax in October.
In the short clip shared on Twitter, Napoli team was awarded a penalty kick in the second half of their Champions League encounter with Ajax Amsterdam and Osimhen was seen handing the ball over to teammate Khvicha Kvaratskhelia for the Georgian star to take the penalty.
Osimhen would score an audacious, individual goal later in the game to help Napoli claim a brilliant 4-2 victory over the Eredivisie champions. But it is that moment when Osimhen ditched the greed associated with strikers that caught the attention of Drogba who latter said “That’s a complete striker: unselfishness… the real meaning of ‘win as A TEAM!!!!’ Victor Osimhen.”
This reaction from an African legend will definitely be a source of motivation for Osimhen as he has proclaimed that he looked up to Drogba while growing up. The 23-year-old has been firing on all cylinders this season, scoring seven goals and assisting one in eight Serie A matches.
