On Thursday, The Director of Press at the Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs, Patricia Deworitshe, announced that President Muhammadu Buhari, has appointed Engineer Emmanuel Audu-Ohwavborua, as the acting Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC). The announcement was made a few hours after the former NDDC Administrator, Effiong Okon Akwa, was sacked by the President.
The statement provided information that the President has approved the most senior director in the Commission, to oversee affairs of the Commission in line with the Federal Government Circular dated 4th December 2017, with Ref. No. 50/S./C.2/268, pending the appointment of a substantive Managing Director and members of the Governing Board. This gave Emmanuel Audu the responsibilities of an acting Managing Director, until a decision was made to fill the position formally.
