As at May this year, Leaders from 44 European Countries, the whole continent excluding Belarus and Russia, came together in Czech Capital Prague. The union was to attend the inaugural meeting of the European Political Community, a new regional group proposed by French President, Emmanuel Macron.
There are uncertainties regarding the Wider Europe Concept, as some people say its size could be a major hindrance to delivering good enough policy actions, between many of its members from Armenia and Azerbaijan, to Greece and Turkey. Others fear that it could just be a concept without facilitating any concept. The EU’s chief diplomat, Josep Borell, said in a blog post before the gathering, that there was still a need to prove the EPC’s core rationale, the community’s final membership, ways on decision making, and whether it could have a budget of its own.
Analysts said that the gathering could be a mere show as they referred to it as a “grand show of solidarity”, without any actual content. Issues from Europe’s security to the constantly increasing prices that cause economic recession, all need a change. The analysts also warned that such a group could develop into a new bloc confrontation with Russia, and this could become worse for Europe’s security situation.
