LAGOS STATE GOVERNMENT EMBRACES TECH-DRIVEN WATER TRANSPORTATION SYSTEM

Date:

The Lagos State Government has embraced a technology-driven approach to water transportation by introducing the Lagos Ferry Services (LAGFERRY) Electronic Fleet (E-Fleet) Surveillance System.

The E-Fleet Surveillance System, known as E-Fleet, is a real-time technology that tracks ferries, offering essential details such as boat location, speed, conditions, and the surrounding environment. This system empowers LAGFERRY to efficiently oversee and manage its fleet’s operations around the clock, ensuring passenger safety and confidence through installed tracking cameras. This initiative is expected to enhance ridership, optimize fuel management, and achieve greater operational efficiency.

Abdoulbaq Ladi Balogun, the Managing Director of LAGFERRY, highlighted the importance of the E-Fleet Surveillance System in advancing the state’s commitment to a sustainable and effective water transportation system. The goal is to alleviate road traffic congestion and promote a multi-modal transportation network.

Balogun emphasized that this system will bolster safety measures, enable swift responses to emergencies, and instill passenger trust in water transportation. He affirmed that this technological integration will significantly enhance the agency’s ability to fulfill its responsibilities by providing data on water traffic, boat performance, weather conditions, and other crucial information.
