TETFUND ALLOCATES N550M TO ADDRESS INSECURITY IN KADUNA STATE COLLEGE OF EDUCATION

Date:

The Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) has taken a significant step towards addressing security concerns at the Kaduna State College of Education (KSCOE), Gidan Waya.

The institution has received a disbursement of N550 million to bolster security measures within its premises. Sonny Echono, the Executive Secretary of TETFund, made this announcement during a visit from a state government delegation led by Governor Uba Sani.

Echono revealed that this allocation goes beyond the usual funding and highlighted that TETFund has also disbursed N500 million to Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria, for a project’s completion. Furthermore, Kaduna State University (KASU) received the same amount to finalize ongoing projects on its Kafanchan campus. Echono stressed TETFund’s commitment to accelerate these projects, particularly in KASU, which faced prior challenges.

The executive secretary assured the state government that a public tertiary institution in the state will benefit from the fund’s special high impact intervention in 2024. This comes after a six-year interval since the last state beneficiary. Additionally, Echono pledged to examine the appeal made by Governor Sani regarding the expansion of Nuhu Bamali Polytechnic, Zaria’s programs; particularly in the field of agriculture.

Governor Sani’s visit aimed to secure more intervention and support from TETFund for key institutions within the state. He emphasized the importance of prompt releases of interventions for institutions under the state’s jurisdiction.

In summary, TETFund’s recent allocation to KSCOE to enhance security measures underscores the organization’s commitment to bolstering education environments and promoting overall institutional development.
