GREECE OFFERS SUPPORT TO LIFT NIGERIANS OUT OF POVERTY

Date:

Ioannis Plotas, the Greek Ambassador to Nigeria, has pledged Greece’s support to assist the Federal Government in its efforts to alleviate poverty in Nigeria. Plotas made this commitment during a meeting with Betta Edu, the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, in Abuja on Thursday.

Plotas emphasized Greece’s willingness to cooperate with Nigeria in humanitarian endeavors and recognized the significant number of Nigerians in need of assistance. The Greek government is prepared to provide financial and material support through organizations like the Committee of the Red Cross and the Greek Red Cross Society. Their aim is to reach as many Nigerians as possible and help them escape poverty.

In response, Minister Betta Edu reaffirmed the commitment of President Bola Tinubu’s administration to uplift millions of Nigerians from poverty. She outlined the ministry’s core mandate, which includes managing, preventing, and mitigating humanitarian crises while reintegrating affected individuals into the community. President Tinubu has already initiated engagement in this regard.

Greece’s offer of support underscores the international community’s willingness to collaborate with Nigeria in addressing its poverty challenges.
