Exceptional 10-Year-Old Nigerian Student Triumphs In Global Toyota Dream Car Art Competition

Date:

A young talent from Nigeria, Oluwademilade Odumuboni, has displayed his remarkable talent on an international stage: clinching the grand prize in the 2022/23 Toyota Dream Car Art Contest. At the tender age of 10, he astounded the world with his exceptional artistic talent.

Competing in the 2022/2023 edition of the contest, Demilade left an indelible mark by surpassing 782,852 contestants hailing from 90 countries. His winning artwork, an ingenious waste converter with a vision to aid nations, especially in African communities, in food production and environmental cleanliness, earned him the global accolade.

During a special event organized by Toyota Nigeria Limited, the young prodigy was honored with a $5,000 cash prize, a plaque, and a certificate. Additionally, his school received a generous $10,000 award.

Kunle Ade-Ojo, the Managing Director of Toyota (Nigeria) Limited, praised Odumuboni’s inventive genius, highlighting how it has projected him onto the world stage. He emphasized that the young artist’s imaginative masterpiece outshone entries from 782,852 contestants across 90 countries and regions. This achievement not only connects Toyota with young minds worldwide but also encourages them to become custodians of our planet and push the boundaries of their creativity.

Ade-Ojo explained that in Nigeria, three winners are chosen annually from each age category: Category 1 (children under seven years old), Category 2 (8-11 years old), and Category 3 (12-15 years old), resulting in nine national champions. These nine gifted individuals, including Demilade, then have the opportunity to compete in Japan against drawings submitted from around the world.

Henrietta Eguagie, the Head Teacher of Corona School, Demilade’s school, hailed Demilade’s outstanding accomplishment, describing it as a monumental achievement that has brought pride to their institution. She also commended Toyota for inspiring young talents to express their creativity and artistic potential.

This annual event, organised by Toyota Motor Corporation (TMC) in Japan, encourages school children globally to illustrate their dream cars with boundless imagination; fostering a culture of innovation and artistic expression among the youth.
