Tinubu’s High-Level Security Meeting Precedes G20 Summit In New Delhi

Date:

In anticipation of his participation in the G20 Leadership Summit in New Delhi, India, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu held a significant meeting with key defence figures at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

The attendees included Defence Minister Abubakar Badaru, Minister of State for Defence Bello Matawalle, as well as the nation’s military leadership, comprising General Christopher Musa, Chief of Defence Staff (CDS); Lt.-Gen. Taoreed Lagbaja, Chief of Army Staff (COAS); Vice Admiral Emmanuel Ogalla, Chief of Naval Staff (CNS); and Air Marshal Hassan Abubakar, Chief of Air Staff (CAS).

This confidential gathering followed President Tinubu’s recent decoration of the CDS and service chiefs. The meeting lasted for less than an hour. The specific details of the discussions were not disclosed to the media.

Such meetings traditionally provide the President with comprehensive insights into the nation’s security landscape and often involve assessing areas where the service chiefs need to intensify their efforts and address vulnerabilities.

This crucial gathering precedes President Tinubu’s journey to New Delhi for the G20 Leaders’ Summit, where he is set to play a prominent role in the Nigeria-India Presidential Roundtable, and the Nigeria-India Business Conference. His objective is to harness global capital and stimulate foreign direct investments (FDIs) in sectors of Nigeria’s economy with a focus on job creation and revenue expansion.

In addition, he plans to showcase Nigeria’s investment appeal by highlighting his cross-sectoral reform plan outlined in the Renewed Hope Agenda.
