LASG Set to Begin Road construction

Date:

The construction of Egan- Akesan Road in Alimosho Local Government Area is set to kick off, and Lagos state government has urged residents to cooperate.

While speaking at a stakeholders meeting at Ikeja, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development, Oluwole Sotire, said the project was significant in order to create a liveable and sustainable environment; especially for the people of Egan-Akesan. Adding that in line with the ‘THEMES Agenda’, Lagos state is making a remarkable success in the area of infrastructure renewal; as it is evident in the construction of roads across the state.

While calling for cooperation, he stated that the successful completion of the project will give residents and commuters generally, the required succour by enhancing connectivity and easing traffic as well as enhancing the value of property in the area.

Furthermore, Oluwole Sotire emphasised that the establishment of right of way, which was an earlier model to the execution of all public projects, followed a certain pattern, which include the service of statutory notices, and marking of affected buildings, before the actual removal of obstructing buildings to pave way for the infrastructure development in the public interest.

He said,” Where the removal of encumbering structures became inevitable, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has made the payment of compensation mandatory, and the agency of government to coordinate that is the Lands Bureau, which would require the cooperation of residents while carrying out the enumeration of the affected properties.

“As a result, I hope that this meeting will produce the mutual understanding and elicit your buy-in that is necessary for the progress of every phase of the road construction work.”

The Permanent Secretary, Office of Infrastructure, Olufemi Daramola, speaking through the Director, Road Construction & Rehabilitation, Tokunbo Oyenuga, mentioned the features of the road which includes the provision of service ducts, street lights with LED lamps and generating set as well as the provision of road signages among others.
