Nigeria’s D’Tigress Move Up In FIBA Rankings After Dominant Display In Afrobasket Championship

Nigeria’s women’s basketball team, D’Tigress, has made significant strides in the latest FIBA Rankings following their outstanding performance at the 2023 Women’s Afrobasketball Championship, where they clinched their fourth consecutive title.

The newly released FIBA Rankings on Wednesday evening saw D’Tigress ascend by an impressive 7 places. Their remarkable journey in the championship, characterised by exceptional teamwork and skill, has catapulted them from the 18th to the 11th position, amassing a total of 528.9 points.

D’Tigress’ resurgence in the rankings is not only a source of national pride but also an indication of the growing prowess of African basketball. In the top 20 teams globally, three African nations are prominently represented: Nigeria at 11th, Mali at 18th, and Senegal at 20th.
