Tinubu to Attend the 78th UNGA

President Bola Tinubu has departed Nigeria for New York to attend the upcoming 78th United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) meeting, scheduled to hold between September 18 and 26, 2023. Worthy of note is that this will be the president’s first UNGA meeting since he became the president in May 2022.

This year’s meeting is themed, “Rebuilding Trust and Reigniting Global Solidarity: Accelerating Action on the 2030 Agenda and its Sustainable Development Goals towards Peace, Prosperity, Progress and Sustainability for All”.

According to a statement from the presidential spokesman Ajuri Ngelale, President Tinubu will also have bilateral meetings with various world leaders, including US President Joe Biden, and EU Commission President Von Der Leyen on the sidelines as the meeting proceeds.

The President will also meet with the global president of Microsoft Brad Smith, and the Head of Global Affairs for Meta Technologies Nick Clegg, as well as deliver his inaugural national statement at the UN headquarters on September 19.

And finally, the President will address American business leaders present at the US Chamber of Commerce ,and will also conduct the NASDAQ closing ceremony.
