FG declares Wednesday public holiday

Date:

The Federal Government of Nigeria has declared Wednesday, September 27th, as Eid-el-Maulid public holiday to commemorate the birth of Prophet Muhammad. The Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, made the declaration in Abuja last night and congratulated all Muslim faithful, both home and abroad for witnessing another celebration.

He admonished Nigerians to imbibe the spirit of love, patience, tolerance and perseverance which are great spiritual virtues that the Prophet Muhammad, (peace be upon him), exemplified.

The Minister urged Nigerians, especially youths, to embrace the virtues of hard work and peaceful disposition to fellow humans, irrespective of faith, ideology, social class and ethnicity and also join hands with President Bola Tinubu’s administration to build a progressive and enviable nation that all citizens will be proud of. This is contained in an official statement signed by the Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Dr. Oluwatoyin Akinlade.
