STANDARD CHARTERED LAUNCHES TECH PROGRAM TO SUPPORT WOMEN ENTREPRENEURS

Date:

Standard Chartered Bank Nigeria Limited has introduced the Standard Chartered Banking Academy, an initiative aimed at enhancing the professional development of women in the banking sector. The academy is part of the bank’s commitment to promoting diversity and empowering women in the workplace, positioning them for success in the future of financial services.

Ibiyemi Okuneye, Head of Transaction Banking, Nigeria and West Africa at Standard Chartered Bank, expressed enthusiasm about the launch, highlighting that the academy is the first of its kind in the Nigerian banking sector. Its primary goal is to enhance the diversity of senior management talent within the banking industry. The initiative is made possible through collaboration with partners such as the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) Nigeria chapter, and the Association of Professional Women Bankers (APWB).

The initial phase of the academy will focus on capacity-building for female talent across West Africa in the field of Transaction Banking. Participation is open not only to Standard Chartered Bank staff but also to female employees from other banks and financial service institutions.

Okuneye summarised that the academy represents Standard Chartered’s proactive approach to shaping the future of the financial industry. In a rapidly evolving financial landscape, cultivating a skilled, diverse, and innovative talent pool is crucial for the sector’s growth and resilience.
