Wema Bank Rewards Outstanding Teachers

As part of its commitment to promote quality teaching and learning, Wema Bank recently rewarded well deserving teachers for their contribution to the overall development of the child. The competition is an innovation by Wema Bank, targeted at celebrating and rewarding outstanding teachers who have made positive impact in the teaching profession.

The event was held in Lagos and cheques were presented to top three teachers that emerged in the competition. The winner, Olawale Gbenusola from Vetland Senior Grammar School, Lagos, was rewarded with two million cash prize, while the first runner up, Raheem Hassan from Araromi Ilogbo Secondary School, Lagos, got N1.5 million, and Adeniran Adedoyin, from Dolphin Junior High School, Lagos, the second runner up, went home with a cash price of one million naira.

Speaking at the event, the Chief Executive Officer of Wema bank, Moruf Oseni, said the bank is committed to promoting excellence and innovation in the educational sector, and that teachers deserve to be celebrated for their tireless efforts in shaping young minds and moulding their future.

“At Wema Bank, we are proud to honor these teachers for their dedication to service. We believe when the sector is properly supported, our children will be impacted positively, and the country will benefit.”

Adedoyin, the second runner up said: “I am excited and happy to be recognised. Teachers should not be ignored, we deserve to be celebrated for our hard work, and I applaud the bank for coming up with this initiative.”

The competition was all about the students nominating teachers who have impacted their lives positively. Over 60 entries were received and was carefully reviewed to pick top 10 teachers. From the pool of top 10, three exceptional teachers emerged winners.
