House Receives Endorsement For Proposed Teacher Salary Increase

The House of Representatives has gained significant support for its proposal to raise teachers’ salaries. Olufemi Ajadi, a key figure in the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), has applauded this initiative, deeming it a crucial step in the right direction.

Ajadi’s endorsement underscores the House’s commitment to improving the welfare of citizens.

During a one-day National Stakeholders’ Workshop on the Development of a Roadmap for the Nigerian Education Sector (2023-2027) in Abuja, Abubakar Fulata, Chairman of the House Committee on University Education, advocated for substantial raises for primary, secondary, and university teachers. He recommended salary increases to N250,000, N500,000, and N1 Million, respectively.

Fulata stressed the importance of providing teachers with better compensation as a means of incentivising and appreciating their invaluable contributions.

In a statement issued yesterday, Ajadi praised the thoughtful nature of the proposal, emphasising the need to accord teachers the respect and recognition they rightfully deserve.
