Ethiopian Airlines Group has announced its intentions to revive passenger services to Madrid, Spain’s capital, with the introduction of four weekly flights commencing on December 9, 2023. This update was shared via a press release from the airline’s media consultant in Nigeria.
The four weekly flights will be operational on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays, and Sundays. This development signifies Ethiopian Airlines’ comeback to a route that was temporarily halted in 2020 due to the global impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Mr. Mesfin Tasew, the Group Chief Executive Officer (GCEO) of Ethiopian Airlines, conveyed his excitement about the reinstatement of Madrid flights. He pointed out the significance of these services in linking Africa with Spain’s cultural and financial hub, thereby nurturing vital socio-economic connections between Madrid and the more than 60 African cities in Ethiopian Airlines’ network.
Tasew remarked, “We are pleased to reestablish this connection between the two regions. After the suspension of our Madrid flights in 2020 due to the pandemic, we are returning stronger than ever to provide our renowned, award-winning services to and from the Spanish Capital.”
The Madrid flights will be conducted using modern Boeing B787-9 Dreamliner aircraft, ensuring a premium level of comfort for passengers.
Ethiopian Airlines, known for its extensive network, offers seamless connections for both leisure and business travellers. With a fleet of over 140 modern aircraft, the airline serves more than 150 international and domestic destinations.
In addition to the resumption of Madrid flights, Ethiopian Airlines is gearing up to initiate new services to Gatwick London and Bangui Central Africa in November, with numerous other exciting destinations in the pipeline. This underscores the airline’s commitment to expanding its reach and enhancing travel options for passengers.
