EKITI STATE GOVERNOR SEEKS TECH COLLABORATION WITH FINLAND FOR CUTTING-EDGE DEVELOPMENT

The Ekiti State Governor, Mr. Biodun Oyebanji, expressed his administration’s readiness to collaborate with the Government of Finland during a visit to the Finnish Ambassador to Nigeria, Leena Pylvanainen, in Abuja on Thursday. The partnership is intended to introduce cutting-edge technology and expertise to the state’s Knowledge Zone, propelling it into the forefront of technology-driven development in Nigeria.

Governor Oyebanji emphasised the importance of embracing advanced technologies for sustainable development; stating that the Ekiti Knowledge Zone has the potential to lift people out of poverty. The collaboration with Finland, known for its robust tech ecosystem and innovation-friendly policies, is expected to contribute significantly to Ekiti’s aspiration to become a hub for technology-driven solutions in Nigeria.

The governor highlighted the envisioned knowledge exchange, skill development, and joint initiatives that would advance Ekiti State in technological advancement at both national and African levels. He expressed the desire for partnerships with friendly countries to lead the people out of poverty, reduce insecurity, and create wealth and employment.

In response, Ambassador Leena Pylvanainen commended Governor Oyebanji’s commitment to international cooperation for Ekiti State’s development. She emphasised Finland’s interest in engaging with the state for mutual benefits, and recognised the collaboration as a significant step towards strengthening diplomatic ties and fostering opportunities for mutual development.

Accompanying Governor Oyebanji on the visit were the Commissioner for Innovation, Science, and Digital Economy, Mr. Seun Fakuade, and Permanent Secretary, Abuja Liaison Office, Mr. Babatunde Olaoye.
