Dangote Petroleum Refinery Initiates Diesel And Aviation Fuel Production

Dangote Petroleum Refinery has officially commenced the production of diesel and aviation fuel. Alhaji Aliko Dangote, the President of Dangote Group, expressed his gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, acknowledging his support, encouragement, and insightful guidance that played an important role in bringing this project to fruition.

Appreciation is also extended to key entities such as the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Limited), the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC), and the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA), along with the entire Nigerian populace, for their unwavering support and belief in this historic undertaking.

A statement released yesterday quoted Dangote expressing delight at reaching this momentous milestone; emphasising its importance for Nigeria. The refinery has already received Six Million barrels of crude oil at its two Single Point Moorings (SPMs) situated 25 kilometres from the shore, with the initial crude delivery on December 12, 2023, and the latest cargo on January 8, 2024.

With the ability to load 2,900 trucks daily at its truck-loading gantries, the refinery ensures that its diesel and aviation fuel products adhere to Euro V specifications. The design aligns with international standards, complying with the World Bank, US EPA, European emission norms, and the Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR) emission and effluent norms, employing state-of-the-art technology.

Dangote expressed gratitude to bankers and financiers, both local and offshore, for their patience during challenging times. Furthermore, he credited the proactive efforts of the Lagos State Government, led by Babajide Sanwo-Olu, in swiftly resolving challenges encountered during the project’s execution.

Recognition was also extended to host communities and traditional leaders for their patience, cooperation, and willingness to collaboratively address issues; ensuring a successful construction phase. The invaluable contributions of the project staff were also acknowledged with profound thanks.
