Tinubu Suspends NSIPA Programs Amidst Investigation Into Alleged Misconduct

Date:

In response to allegations of financial impropriety, President Bola Tinubu has suspended all operations under the National Social Investment Programme Agency (NSIPA), including N-Power, Conditional Cash Transfer (CCT), Government Enterprise and Empowerment, and Home Grown School Feeding programs. The decision, announced by the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (OSGF), follows the recent suspension of NSIPA’s National Coordinator and CEO, Hajiya Halima Shehu, over purported financial misconduct.

According to Mr. Segun Imohiosen, the Director of Information in the OSGF, the suspension is a proactive measure amid ongoing investigations into alleged malfeasance within the agency and its programs. The four aforementioned programs will remain on hold for an initial six-week period.

President Tinubu expressed significant concerns about operational lapses and improprieties related to payments made to the beneficiaries of these programs. In response, he established a ministerial panel tasked with conducting a comprehensive review of NSIPA’s operations; aiming to recommend necessary reforms for the agency.

Throughout the suspension period, all NSIPA-related activities, including distributions, events, payments, collaborations, and registrations, will be temporarily frozen. The President assures stakeholders and the Nigerian public of his administration’s unwavering commitment to a swift and impartial process. The ultimate goal is to ensure that social intervention programs function as intended, benefitting the most vulnerable Nigerians.
