FEDERAL GOVERNMENT INAUGURATES TASK TEAMS FOR EXTENSIVE HOUSING SECTOR REFORMS

Date:

Nigeria’s Federal Government has launched four task teams to implement President Bola Tinubu’s vision for extensive housing sector reforms under the Renewed Hope Agenda. Housing and Urban Development Minister, Ahmed Dangiwa, announced this in Abuja, emphasising housing’s integral role in building a $1 trillion economy. The reform teams will focus on Housing Institutions, Multi-Agency Project Delivery, Land, and Building Materials Manufacturing Hubs.

The Housing Institutions Reform Task Team aims to optimise housing agencies, and review industry laws to deliver decent and affordable housing. The Multi-Agency Project Delivery Task Team targets the construction of at least 50,000 houses per year; leveraging multiple funding sources.

The Land Reforms Task Team aims to develop a blueprint for efficient land administration, while the Building Materials Manufacturing Hubs Task Team assesses the sector and establishes hubs to foster economic growth and reduce import dependency.

These teams, comprising various stakeholders, work towards inclusive and sustainable strategies for housing reforms in Nigeria.
