NITDA Alters Rules For Registration Of ICT Service Providers/Contractors

Date:

The National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) announces a comprehensive revision of the Guidelines governing the registration of ICT Service Providers/Contractors. This revision aims to streamline the process for delivering IT services to various arms of the Federal Government of Nigeria.

Hadiza Umar (Mrs.), The Head of Corporate Affairs and External Relations at NITDA, confirmed the ongoing development. She clarified that the guidelines, initially issued in 2018, delineated the registration process for local IT service providers. This ensured the delivery of top-tier IT projects to the Federal Government while upholding the highest standards of professionalism in IT services. The guidelines also fostered the growth of indigenous IT companies in alignment with relevant Presidential Executive Orders.

Since the guidelines’ inception, NITDA has recognised the imperative to enhance registration efficiency. The focus is on promoting indigenous IT service provision, and engaging competent vendors for IT service delivery to Federal Government Ministries, Departments, and Agencies. This initiative is in alignment with the current administration’s commitment to collective prosperity through efficiency and innovation.

The upcoming review, resulting in amendments to the guidelines, aims to open avenues for Nigerian companies to offer more digital services. Simultaneously, it strives to enhance the ease of doing business for IT service providers. NITDA expresses its willingness to collaborate with all stakeholders to ensure that Nigerians derive maximum benefits from Information Technology; particularly in simplifying daily activities, including government and institutional service delivery.
