NAN’S MANAGING DIRECTOR URGES ACTU VIGILANCE AGAINST CORRUPTION

Date:

Malam Ali M. Ali, the newly appointed Managing Director of the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), has urged members of the Anti-Corruption and Transparency Unit (ACTU) to actively combat corruption at all levels within the agency. Ali stressed the importance of instilling due process in NAN operations, and encouraged the unit to be watchful for any sign of corruption.

During the meeting, Ali underlined the commitment of NAN’s management to transparency; buttressing their proactive engagement with stakeholders. He urged ACTU members to be resilient in enforcing anti-corruption measures; acknowledging potential accusations of witch-hunting when pursuing the right path. Ali concluded by invoking a sense of divine judgment, stressing individual accountability for actions.

Responding to the call, Dr. Razak Owolabi, the ACTU chairman, reassured the managing director that the unit’s purpose is not to witch-hunt but to prevent corrupt practices through prompt investigation and reporting. Owolabi called for NAN management’s support to create a conducive environment for the unit. Ali reiterated the management’s full support for ACTU members; encouraging them to disregard innuendoes and invectives while emphasising the vital role they play in the fight against corruption.
