NIGERIA AND GERMANY STRENGTHEN COOPERATION TO BOOST MSMES

During a bilateral meeting held in Abuja, Dr. Doris Uzoka-Anite, Nigeria’s Minister of Industry, Trade, and Investment, announced that the Nigerian and German governments have agreed to enhance cooperation aimed at bolstering Micro, Small, and Medium Scale Enterprises (MSMEs) in Nigeria. Uzoka-Anite expressed confidence in forging a deeper connection between the two nations to cultivate a more robust and mutually beneficial relationship.

In her statement, the Minister highlighted areas of mutual interest, which are renewable energy, agriculture, and increasing access to finance for MSMEs, emphasising their potential to significantly boost the industrial sector of the economy. She reiterated the President’s commitment to turning around job creation, poverty alleviation, inclusiveness, and promoting renewable energy.

To strengthen the Federal Government’s dedication to industrial revitalisation, Uzoka-Anite mentioned the recent establishment of the Presidential Council on Industrial Revitalisation, with the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Economy serving as its chairperson. This move underscores Nigeria’s commitment to fostering economic growth, attracting investment, and boosting industrialisation.
