ETERNA PLC APPOINTS ABIOLA LAWAL AS NEW MD/CEO

The Board of Eterna Plc has announced the appointment of Abiola Lukman Lawal as the new Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, succeeding Benjamin Nwaezeigwe, who resigned after two years of service.

Lawal, an Oil Executive and Economist brings over twenty-five years of executive leadership experience in various industries, with a focus on the Oil & Gas sector. He most recently served as Deputy Managing Director and Chief Financial Officer at Eroton Exploration and Production Company Limited.

Previously, Lawal held key positions at Oando Plc; one was Group Chief Strategy Officer, where he played a pivotal role in the company’s transformation from downstream to upstream and gas operations. He also served as Executive Director of Oando Gas & Power during a phase of rapid growth and expansion.

Lawal’s international experience includes executive roles at Camac Energy Inc (later known as Erin Energy) in the USA, where he was the pioneer Executive Vice President, and Chief Financial Officer of the first Nigerian-owned energy company listed on the New York Stock Exchange.

In addition to his extensive industry experience, Lawal holds a Certificate in Data Science and Artificial Intelligence from MIT, USA, and an MBA from the University of California Irvine. He is a member of various professional associations including the Chartered Institute of Directors Nigeria, and the African Energy Chamber.
