NATO’s Boss Wants Ukraine to Strike Inside Russia

The tension between NATO and Russia has reached new heights as the Kremlin rebuked the suggestion from Jens Stoltenberg, NATO Secretary General.

Jens Stoltenberg suggested that alliance members should allow Ukraine to launch strikes deep into Russian territory with Western-supplied weapons. Dmitry Peskov, the Kremlin Spokesman, criticised the suggestion, saying that NATO’s stance meant a direct confrontation with Russia.

In an interview, Stoltenberg pleaded for NATO members to lift the prohibition on Ukraine using Western weapons to target military installations in Russia. Peskov condemned this and accused the alliance of indulging in military posturing and escalating tensions, and asserted that the Russian military was prepared to respond accordingly.

When asked if NATO’s actions were bringing the alliance closer to a direct confrontation with Russia, Peskov emphasised that they were already engaged in one as a matter of fact.

Russian President Vladimir Putin has repeatedly cautioned the West about the risk of a global conflict over Ukraine, and warned that any direct clash between Russia and NATO can lead to World War Three.

Russian officials sees Ukrainian invasion into Russian territory, as well as attacks on civilian areas and nuclear defence facilities, as escalatory actions.

The invasion of Ukraine by Russia in 2022 triggered the most severe rupture in relations between Moscow and the West since the Cuban Missile Crisis of 1962. But Russia can’t be stopped as it is currently making advances along the front lines in Ukraine.

Despite Ukraine’s lobbying efforts, the United States has consistently maintained their stance in encouraging Ukrainian strikes inside Russia using American weapons.
