INEC ADVISES NIGERIANS TO BE CAUTIOUS OF FRAUDULENT AD HOC EMPLOYEE RECRUITMENT PORTALS

Date:

Nigerians have once more been warned by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to stay away from a bogus website that purports to be a recruitment gateway for ad hoc employees for the general election of 2023. This information was provided by INEC in a brief statement issued on Tuesday in Abuja by Mr. Rotimi Oyekanmi, Chief Press Secretary to INEC Chairman.

Oyekanmi claimed that the portal was a scam because the commission had stopped hiring for the election and had taken down its official recruitment website. The letter read:

“The website/blog below is advertising ad hoc staff positions for the 2023 general election. However, the commission is no longer recruiting ad hoc staff for the 2023 general election. The INEC ad hoc staff recruitment portal was officially shut down on December 14 2022.
“Therefore, the site, with the URL      http://www.yournewclaims.com/Inec-Recriutment/ is fake. It is intended to defraud unsuspecting members of the public. Nigerians should disregard it.”
According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), INEC had alerted authorities on October 5, 2022, to a similar bogus ad hoc recruiting link inecnigeria.govservice.site that was being shared online. According to NAN, the commission announced on September 7, 2022 that the public would be able to access its official recruitment portal for the 2023 general election on Wednesday, September 14, 2022 at 8 a.m., and that it would close on Wednesday, December 14, at 8 p.m.
