Iranian Government has declared that it will look into a spate of poisoning of female students at different institutions across the nation. Politicians have hypothesized that the attacks may have been motivated by religious organizations that oppose girls’ education.
Minister of Health Bahram Eynollahi said on Thursday that a committee of experts, including toxicologists, were investigating the sad event. They have prompted some parents to take their children out of school, the state media reported.
The poisoning of female students at more than 30 schools, in at least four cities started in November in Iran’s holy city of Qom.
This event occurred at a crucial time for Iran’s clerical leaders, who have been dealing with months of anti-government rallies since a young Iranian woman died while under the morality police’s care. The nameless “enemies” of Iran, according to Iran’s interior minister, are responsible for the poisonings’ unrest and fearmongering.
