MIGRANT CRISIS PROPEL NYC TO DECLARE STATE OF EMERGENCY

Date:

Since the spring, more than 17,000 asylum seekers have arrived the New York City. A state of emergency has been declared by Mayor Eric Adams, over the present influx of migrants. He stated that the city was coming to its climax point, regarding the crisis that would cost taxpayers an estimate of $1 billion, by the end of the year.

The significance of the announcement is that efforts are being made by the administration, towards a political tactic mounted by Republican governors. These governors have sought to challenge President Joe Biden’s immigration policies, by sending thousand of immigrants headed to Democratic cities on buses, testing “sanctuary cities”.
