President Buhari administration and Its Steering Committee (PSC) on coronavirus has put the federal capital territory of Nigeria and other six states on COVID-19 red alert to ensure there is no nationwide spread of the virus spread during the Eid-al-Adha celebration starting on 20/07/2021.
Buhari`s administration decide to pass this rule with the news of a new Delta variant of COVID-19 spreading around a few states including the Nigerian capital. The Delta variant have caused many hospitalization of students and workers In the states affected by this deadly infection.
The following states listed below will be affected by this new rule from the Presidential Steering Committee and the secretary to President Buhari of Nigeria.
- Federal Capital Territory
The secratary to the federal government, Mr. Mustapha said new rule and alert placed on these states are of preventive measure against the wide spread deadly virus spreading around the country
Mr.Mustapha also warned all remaining 30 states of Nigeria to brace themselves, create different ways to keep people safe and to enforce all the protocols put In place by the federal governement.
“The following steps listed by the federal government are important as we fight this deadly coronavirus new cases in Nigeria.” He said.
“The Presidential Steering Committee on COVID-19 will continue to work hard to reduce the risk of the variant by enforcing the country`s rule and also beef up the surveillance at all international point of entry.”
“We will be taken extreme measures against travellers arriving from the following country with growing coronavirus cases such as India, South Africa, Turkey and Brazil.”
He concluded by saying “The Presidential Steering Committee rejoice with the Muslims on this fine occassion of the Eid-al-Adha. However, all state government and Islamic religious leaders should be careful of any large gathering planned during this festive period.”
To help curb the virus, the PSC recommends all religious leaders lead the Eid prayers to local mosque (outdoor); suspension of any other Islamic prayer activity such as Durbar; and ensure a small gathering during this festive period.
