According to President Muhammadu Buhari, Nigeria will assist the Republic of Burundi in a variety of ways as needed and in the spirit of African unity and brotherhood. Burundi’s Minister of Finance, Budget, and Economic Planning, Audace Niyonzima, wished Nigerians and President Buhari a happy new year.
He also wished the country well in the general elections scheduled for February and March, this year. “We pray that the polls will be peaceful and successful, so that Nigeria will maintain her reputation as a bastion of peace and stability,” the Special Envoy said.
In response to the Burundian leader’s request for assistance with energy provision, particularly petrol, President Buhari said he understands how it feels for a nation to experience energy scarcity. As a result, he made a commitment to get the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited to investigate the request.
