Former President of Nigeria, Olusegun Obasanjo, offers to mentor repentant Lagos state street controllers, popularly known as “Area boys and girls.” These area boys and girls were brought to him by the renowned Female Talking Drummer, Aralola Olamuyiwa, to be beneficiaries of the Lagos State Government Project – ‘Eko Inspire Me.’
The project is aimed at taking helpless youths off the streets, helping them rediscover their potentials, and giving them a platform to start a new lifestyle. Obasanjo inspired the beneficiaries with tales of his experiences in life, facing several challenges but still decided to win. All these transpired in Obasanjo’s Penthouse Residence, Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library in Abeokuta, Ogun state.
The area boys and girls are on a new path for their lives and it will help them become more than they deemed possible. The female drummer expressed gratitude to the Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-olu, for supporting the project.
Precilia Ogba, one of the area girls, expressed excitement over seeing the Former President, and thanked everyone that is sponsoring the project. We hope that more people will become beneficiaries of this project, and there will be a new breed of change agents in the society.
