The Ondo State Government has been prevented from forcibly evicting cocoa growers from Oluwa Forest Reserve in Odigbo Local Government by an Ondo State High Court sitting in Ondo. The High Court also prevented the state government from rating the farmers’ cocoa farms as well as those of other parties, such as Sao Agro-Allied Services Ltd.
The farmers’ attorney, Tope Temokun, submitted an application on their behalf, and Justice Ademola Adegoroye approved the order.
The farmers had requested a court order prohibiting the respondents and their privies from further grading or continuing to grade their cocoa plantations, which included the Oluwa Forest Reserve camps of Temidire, Adeleye Itamerin, Ikawo, Ijoba, Ayeleso, and Isero, as well as their sub-camps.
The matter was postponed until June 5 so that the move on notice could be heard.
