Revenue Mobilisation Commission Promised support by the National Assembly

Date:

In a speech in Abuja, The Speaker, House of Representatives, Honourable Femi Gbajabiamila, assured the Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC), of receiving support from the legislative body, in strengthening the delivery of its core mandate of mobilising revenue for the government. There has been conflict in the difference between the salary and allowances received by legislators, and Femi has asked RMAFC yesterday, to enlighten the citizens on the difference between both payments.

The Speaker said that allowances were earned from sundry duties like maintaining a constituency office, while salary is the payment earned for being a legislator. He charged the Commission to enlighten the citizenry on this difference to avoid misinterpretation. The chairman of the Commission, Alhaji Mohammed Bello Shehu, led the delegation and appealed to the speaker, to do everything within the capacity of his office to provide a new constitution that will improve the Commission’s duties.

The Chairman also urged the National Assembly to empower the commission by reviewing its laws, to provide funding from other sources aside the statutory allocation by the Federal Ministry of Finance.
