The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) is set to conclude the presidential and National Assembly elections in seven councils in Abia State.
The exercise was in response to disputes and discrepancies that arose during the voting on Saturday, which the Commission insisted must be addressed through new voting in order for real and credible results to be obtained. This is according to Clement Oha, the state INEC Administrative Secretary; who made this announcement to journalists yesterday at the INEC state headquarters, Umuahia.
According to him, all polling units in the seven councils—Obingwa, Osisioma Ngwa, Aba North and Aba South, Umuahia North, Ohafia, and Arochukwu—have the measures in place to ensure the success of today’s elections.
He further said that results from the polls on Saturday indicated that while some were ready and others were getting ready, the results would be compiled following the conclusion of today’s election.
