Missing Children In Lagos – Flood from heavy rainfall has swept away two kids that are yet to be identified at Oyebanjo street, Ketu of Lagos State.
A search operation is ongoing to find the missing children, who are yet to be identified, as stated by the Lagos State Emergency in a situation report on Sunday. After much effort in fishing them out; It was however not clear whether
the two kids were swept away from one of the flooded buildings.
Director-General and Chief Executive Officer of LASEMA, Dr Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, said it was discovered that the children were missing in the evening of Saturday around 8 pm.
He further said, “A joint team of responders consisting of Agency responders, LASG Fire Service and LASAMBUS was at the scene.
“The Agency’s tiger team started an operation of search and rescue along the path of the floodwater.
“Early observations unearthed a slopy topography with a direct channel of drain water into the canal. This has demonstrated a rather challenging navigation. Rescue operation remains ongoing.”
He encouraged people to “exercise extreme caution, particularly referring to young children, in flood-prone and slopy areas.”
Part of the clarification campaign also advised that in case of flood or any other emergency like the missing children, a call should be put through to the Lagos State Emergency Toll-free lines on 767 or 112.”
