The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has pledged to accelerate economic advancement for women, promising to invest in their growth and potential. This commitment was made during a virtual event titled “The Abuja Accelerator,” held as a side event during the UN Commission on the Status of Women @68 in New York, U.S.A.
The event, organised by the Office of the Mandate Secretary, Women Affairs Secretariat in collaboration with UN Women, emphasised collaboration to achieve women’s economic progress under the Abuja Accelerator program. FCT Minister, Mr. Nyesom Wike, reaffirmed his dedication to advancing women’s economic growth, and leveraging their potential for both national and global impact.
Speaking at the event, officials highlighted the program’s focus on fostering collaboration among women from diverse background. They emphasised the importance of creating a supportive environment where women can exchange ideas, strategise, and address pressing global issues together.
The Abuja Accelerator program aims to equip participants with the skills and knowledge necessary to drive positive change in their communities. It also serves as a platform for advocacy and awareness, promoting policies that advance gender equality and elevate the status of women in society.
UN Women Representative to Nigeria, Beatrice Eyong, commended the FCTA’s efforts in unifying women and building partnerships to uplift their lives. The initiative, aligned with the vision of FCT Minister Wike, and President Bola Tinubu’s “Renewed Hope” agenda, seeks to ensure that no woman is left behind in realising her full potential.
